Friends
We wrote about our analysis of the Iran nuclear agreement a while back,
and while the concerns linger, we still support negotiations over
belligerence. (Plus, the Iranians seem mostly supportive of the deal,
though they're having the same internal "what are you doing negotiating
with those people" kinds of discussions as Americans. Go figure.)
Anyway, there's a national call for action this Wednesday and our allies
at Jewish Voice for Peace let us know about this combined call-in / rally
action alert which, to help confuse you more, originated with Moveon and
other national groups but we received today from Oregon Physicians for
Social Responsibility.

Subject: Urgent: Tell Senators Wyden and Merkley to Support Iran Nuclear
Agreement
The agreement recently reached with Iran may be a critical step in
preventing yet another costly, unnecessary war in the Middle East. Senator
Wyden is leaning against supporting this important agreement
[https://www.whitehouse.gov/issues/foreign-policy/iran-deal] , the result
of years of high-level diplomacy, while Senator Merkley is leaning
(but only leaning) towards a yes vote.
Support for this agreement from both Senator Wyden and Senator Merkley is
crucial. Contact Senator Wyden at 202-224-5244 and Senator Merkley at
202-224-3753 today and tell them to support diplomacy with Iran by
supporting this agreement.
On Wednesday, August 26 th , local constituents in Portland will rally and
deliver petitions to Senator Wyden. We will urge Senator Wyden to support
the nuclear agreement that the United States and other world powers have
reached with Iran. Following the event, we will deliver a petition to
Senator Wydenâs office, signed by Wydenâs constituents.
Wednesday, August 26 th , 12:00 - 1:00 PM
In front of Senator Ron Wyden's office, 911 NE 11 th Avenue in Portland
"This is a crucial time to speak directly with Senator Wyden and ask him
to support this deal and be a champion for diplomacy," said Maxine
Fookson, Portland resident and Oregon PSR member co-hosting the action.
"Oregon residents are ready to show Senator Wyden that he has the
support of his constituents to stand up against another costly, deadly,
and unnecessary war."
