Below are two events being organized by our friends in the Palestinian 
solidarity movement. The first is an effort to support Portland divesting 
from Caterpillar, one of the corporations that profits from the Israeli 
occupation, and the second is a presentation by Jeff Halper. The Halper 
event has a two-part description, one came from Americans United for 
Palestinian Human Rights and the other from Jewish Voice for Peace.

Support Occupation-Free Portland!

Lovejoy Room at Portland City Hall, 1221 SW 4th Avenue

Please support Occupation-Free Portland's campaign to divest from four 
corporations profiting from the Israeli Occupation and plan to attend an 
important meeting at City Hall.

Portland's Socially Responsible Investment Committee will be discussing 
whether to put Caterpillar, Inc., on the city's Do-Not-Buy list. 
Caterpillar is one of the four corporations targeted by Occupation-Free 
Portland.

The committee will also be discussing Wells Fargo, the single largest 
financial investor in private prisons. Occupation-Free Portland also 
supports divestment from the private prison industry.

Jeff Halper Speaks in Portland: "War Against the People and Global 
Pacification"

First United Methodist Church of Portland, 1838 SW Jefferson St, Collins Hall

Jeff Halper is co-founder of the Israeli Committee Against House 
Demolitions (ICAHD). An Israeli peace activist, Jeff is now writing and 
talking on how Israel is "globalizing Palestine". Through sales of weapons 
and military technology that has been "tested" on the Palestinians, Israel 
is taking its "war against the people" to a new global level.

Jeff will be speaking here in Portland on a book tour for his recently 
published book: War Against the People: Israel, the Palestinians and 
Global Pacification (Pluto Press/University of Chicago, 2015). Books will 
be for sale at the Portland event.

Jeff Halper is well-known for his activism “on the ground” in support 
of Palestinian rights and a just peace as well as his incisive analysis of 
the political situation in Israel/Palestine. The long-time head of the 
Israel Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD) and the author of An 
Israeli in Palestine and Obstacles to Peace, he brings critical, 
up-to-date, grounded and constructive analyses of the Palestine/Israel 
situation.

If you have heard Jeff Halper speak before, you know how engaging and 
knowledgeable he is. You will want to hear him again as he always brings 
new information and amazing critical insight. If you have never heard Jeff

I want to make sure you know about the opportunity to hear Israeli peace
activist, Jeff Halper, who has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize,
who will be speaking in Portland on Tuesday, Feb 23.  He will be talking
about his latest book, "War Against the People: Israel, The Palestinians
and Global Pacification", which explores how Israel exports to the world
the latest in field-tested (on Palestinians) military technology and
surveillance equipment.  Israel has developed cutting edge techniques to
pacify and warehouse a restive population.  They have trained U.S. police
