Hello PJW supporters
As noted briefly yesterday, the War Resisters League is hosting its annual
protest against the Rose Festival "Fleet Week" at the Waterfront. I expect
to have the Ann Huntwork sign down there again, like last year, with the
message "War Ships Are Not Family Fun."
It goes from 1:30 to 3:30. The space noted below as being north of the
Burnside Bridge is actually between Couch and Davis on NW Naito Pkwy, at
the Japanese American Historical Plaza (yet more insult to injury in my
mind, considering what the US did to Japan with its military in WWII).
Oh, and the military also uses the festival space to set up recruiting
booths.
ANYWAY, here's the brief invite from WRL. Hope some folks can make it!

Subject: Annual Rose Festival Protest
Friends,
This year's protest of militarism at the Rose Festival will be on *Saturday,
June 10th - 1:30 to 3:30 pm.* We will gather in Tom McCall Waterfront Park
just north of the Burnside Bridge (approx. NW Couch), near where military
recruiting booths are set up and the warships are parked for tours.
We will bring signs and banners. This is a rain-or-shine event. Be there
or be square.
-John G.
