Hi, this is the final reminder that the memorial for our co-founding
member, Yvonne Simmons, who died in July 2022, will be tomorrow, Saturday
October 14 at 1 PM.
We are hoping people will join us in person at Hoffman Hall, where you can
share moments with others who knew Yvonne and take mementos including
political buttons and other items mentioned below in the announcement that
went out last week. Remember we're strongly recommending that everyone
wear masks-- COVID's back on the rise.
At the memorial, there will be stories, songs, video and more.
For those intending to attend by Zoom, the link has now been posted to the
web page about Yvonne:

Rememeber that on Saturdays there is a farmers' market at Portland State
University so leave extra time to park and walk if you're driving.

OK, looking forward to seeing folks "in real life" or online.

Yvonne Simmons memorial: Sat, October 14, 2023 1 PM-3 PM
In person/hybrid memorial event in Portland, OR for longtime peace activist,
musician and friend of animals Yvonne Simmons (1946-2022).
A follow-up to the virtual memorial held in September 2022.
There will be music, video, pictures, and an open mic to remember Yvonne.

Masks strongly encouraged, as many of our attendees are in vulnerable
populations and COVID and other viruses are back on the rise. No food or drink
will be served at this event, but the Hall does have water fountains.
A zoom link to attend virtually will be provided about 48 hours before the
event.
Please RSVP if you plan to attend: email pjw at pjw.info

Attendees can also take home framed artwork Yvonne had in her house, jewelry,
books, CDs, audio cassettes and other knick-nacks to remember her life. Please
bring something to help carry out your chosen items.
---------
Be sure to look for Yvonne's name on the Wall of Heroines on the way to
Hoffman Hall.
Note that there is no parking at Hoffman Hall; details on places to
park and transit options are here:

There is a streetcar stop about four blocks away at SW Park and Mill,
another about five blocks away at SW 11th and Clay, and a Max stop about
six blocks away at SW 6th and Mill.

If you want to make a donation to honor Yvonne's memory, donate to
organizations which:
--support women's empowerment and/or work to end violence against women
--promote adoption and/or spaying/neutering of animals
--work for peace and/or the delivery of humanitarian aid
--give youth opportunity to create art, music and/or peace initiatives
--use grassroots reporting to get the word out about any of the above.
Many organizations have an "in memory of" checkbox where you can say the
money is to honor Yvonne Simmons.
