We've gotten a lot of information about events coming up in the next few
weeks which people asked that we share with you.
Here we go:

Wednesday, April 17 10 AM
Community Forum on Gaza and Israel Palestine with Benjamin Barnett, Joel
Benin, Marlene Eid and Mazen Malik organized by the Community Education
Working Group and recorded at the Eastside Jewish Commons. On KBOO
Community Radio Wednesday April 17th 10am 90.7 FM Portland and online at
Kboo.fm .

Wednesday-Thursday April 17-18
Award-Winning Films about Atomic Energy and Uranium April 17-18 in
Portland
The IUFF Atomic Age Cinema will be at the First Unitarian Church in
Portland on Wednesday and Thursday, April 17th and 18th, with screenings
followed by a Q and A and panel discussion.
ATOMIC BAMBOOZLE will be screened on the 17th along with the award-winning
ATOMIC COVER-UP. Also, an award-winning film, DEMON MINERAL, screens on
the 18th. Suggested donations at the door of $5-20.

In its 13th year, the IUFF is dedicated to films about nuclear power and
weapons, nuclear victims and environmental justice, and the risks of
radioactivity, uranium mining, and nuclear waste. From Hiroshima to the
Manhattan Project to Fukushima and everything in between, where
Oppenheimer dared not go, these films throw much-needed light on all
nuclear issues, past, present, and future.
Local sponsors for IUFF Portland are the Economic Action Group of the
First Unitarian Church, Oregon Conservancy Foundation, and Alliance for
Democracy.

5th Annual SJCon:
"Health & Environmental Justice: Constructing Coalitions at the
Intersections of Extraction, Militarism, and Climate Collapse"
Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20, 2024
8:30 am to 5:30 pm
and Sunday, April 21st from 3:30 to 8 pm
Presented virtually (on Zoom) with some in-person sessions
Militarism will particularly be included in the Friday morning 8:45 AM
Plenary Session "Learning from the Past and Propelling the Future for
Social and Environmental Justice-- Boycotts, Divestment, and Sanctions."
At 4 PM Friday keynote speaker Melanie Yazzie, a citizen of the Navajo
Nation, will make links between Native American genocide and Gaza.
>From 10 AM to noon Friday there is a Chief Redheart Memorial Ceremony
being held in person at Fort Vancouver, which about the violence the U.S.
military perpetrated against the Nimiipuu/Nez Perce, including at the
fort.

Currently:
Once a month - last Thursday each month 3 to 4:30 PM (April 25)
Location: SE 82nd and Division at PCC campus
Starting again on May 4:
Once a week - Saturday afternoon 3-4:30 PM
Location: East end of the Burnside Bridge by the Car dealership
(SE Burnside and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd)
For both, Alliance for Democracy will provide signs.
