Dear PJW supporters
Many of you are probably being overwhelmed with end-of-the-year donation
requests. Sometimes daily. We try to focus our fundraising efforts to our
snail mailings, including a fundraising letter from Flying Focus that goes
out each May, and ones from PJW and Portland Copwatch in November. For
those of you who have already donated, THANK YOU!! The returns are on par
with previous years.
But here are a few suggestions if you haven't yet given:
1) Think about increasing your donation by up to 20% to help us keep up
with growing costs. So if you normally give $25, maybe give $30 this
year.
2) When sending in your donation by mail or at Network For Good, divvy up
the funds to help our project groups. Portland Copwatch is doing very
well, but donations to the Iraq Affinity Group and Flying Focus Video
Collective go a long way to help the educational work of those projects
continue. Funds dedicated to the Peace and Justice Works general fund
end up there. Network For Good has a "designation" field where you can
say how you want the money allocated.
3) Stamps, stamps, stamps! The USPS keeps upping the cost of first class
mail, which we need for various purposes. They're now 73 cents each and
probably will go up again in 2025. Forever stamps can be used, well,
forever, so if you have extras to donate, send them our way alone or
with your check/money order.
We appreciate all of you and recognize we're in for another long stretch
needing to bring an end to militarism, police brutality and the many
related issues featured on Flying Focus' weekly show (now in its 34th
year!). Please give if you can. If you can't get to it by the end of the
year, have no fear-- a new PJW newsletter will be going out on December
27.
Thank you
dan handelman
