             "End These Endless Wars: Afghanistan 14 Years Later"
         Expanded Friday Rally w/Portland Peaceful Response Coalition
              Pioneer Courthouse Square, SW Yamhill and Broadway


This week marks the 14th anniversary of the 2001 US invasion of 
Afghanistan. To protest the ongoing US military presence in that country, 
which continues to cause destabilization in the entire region, Peace and 
Justice Works Iraq Affinity Group will be cosponsoring the weekly Portland 
Peaceful Response Coalition Friday rally on October 9. As it has every 
week since Nov. 2001, the rally will take place at the SW corner of 
Pioneer Courthouse Square at SW Yamhill and Broadway.


In addition to updating the public on the situation in Afghanistan, the 
Friday rally will be promoting the upcoming "Call Out for Justice: End the 
Wars" mobilization on Sunday October 11 at 1 PM in Shemanski Park. Both 
PPRC and PJW are among the 42 cosponsors and endorsers of that event.
