Friends
Several months ago, we sent you information about our letter of support to
the City's Human Rights Commission asking they get Portland to divest from
companies operating in the territories occupied by Israel. That movement
has a formal recommendation to the city's investments committee to divest
from Caterpillar. Our friends at Americans United for Palestinian Human
Rights sent the below action alert asking for people to send in comments
by October 31.

This is a reminder from the email sent last week about submitting public
comments to Portland's City Council. The Portland Socially Responsible
Investments Committee (SRIC) has recommended placing 10 companies on the
City's Do-Not-Buy list. One of these is Caterpillar, responsible for
violations of 6 out of 7 of the City's SRI criteria, INCLUDING serious
and ongoing violations of Palestinian Human Rights. We are urging you to
write public comments in support of the SRIC recommendations by Oct. 31
and submit to:
https://www.portlandoregon.gov/omf/71697
and click on "provide feedback"
It takes less than a minute to set up an account and submit a comment.
It's fine if you only want to say who you are and that you support the
SRIC report. It can be as simple as, "Please put Caterpillar and all the
companies the SRIC has recommended on the city's Do-Not-Buy list."
[NOTE: The main SRIC site also says you can send feedback to:
<janet.storm at portlandoregon.gov>]
If you would like to write a longer comment, please look at
Occupation-Free Portland's talking points for ideas:

Thanks so much for all you do. If you'd like to share your public comment,
just send them to pmiller at auphr.org .
