Yvonne Simmons 1995: Back from Bosnia next two weeks on the Video Bus
Flying Focus supporters and allies
Every other week, Flying Focus re-runs older programs from our
back-catalogue to keep the historical reference points fresh (and sadly,
sometimes to see how little has changed). Over the next few years, we will
be adding in programs featuring or produced by Yvonne Simmons, who you
recall died on July 2.
First up is "Back from Bosnia: Peace Journey 2" from 1995. Here is teh
description:
Yvonne Simmons (1946-2022) was a dedicated peace activist. In early 1995,
she returned for a second Peace Journey to former Yugoslavia, going into
the heart of the conflict in Bosnia Herzegovina. After 4.5 months, she
returned to Portland and spoke with Flying Focus, telling stories about
her feelings for the people she worked and lived with, including orphans
and refugees. With these stories and photos, she painted a picture of
war-torn Sarajevo. Yvonne and her singing partner Mary Rose sing, as the
duo Simmons/Rose, under the closing credits.

PS: Open Signal/PCM continues to cablecast all programs with
"letterboxing" so that our shows, created in old-school 4:3 format, appear
in the middle of your screen. Also, our show is carried on the Comcast's
High Definition channel 322 on Monday evenings, channel 323 on Wednesday
nights and channel 321 on Fridays, but our shows are not yet produced in
HD.
